Computer-aided design ( CAD ) is the use of computer systems to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation and create a database for manufacturing. Computer- aided manufacturing ( CAM ) is an application that improves the design and the creation of dental restorations. Today is impossible to imagine dentistry without digital technology and CAD/CAM techniques. The popularity of these systems can be attributed to their efficiency of designing, manufacturing and precision.
